How to make Teriyaki Sauce

This is the easy method of making teriyaki sauce, using honey. There are lots of recipes out there. This is also a sauce with small pieces of ginger and garlic in it – you could strain the sauce if you like, or grind them to a fine pulp making the sauce smooth.


  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp rice wine
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1 dessert spoon finely grated ginger
  • 150 ml honey


Step 1

Add all the ingredients to a heavy pan EXCEPT for the honey.

Step 2

Bring to the boil

Step 3

Cook for 5 mins and then add the honey

Step 4

Cook on a medium to low light until the sauce thickens

Step 5

Store in sterilised jar
